چکیده

The drive toward sustainable development will be facilitated by the transition to smart cities relying on the interface and co-optimization of the cyber and physical layers modeling the Electricity Cyber Physical System (CPS). Increasing penetration of intermittent and volatile renewable energy sources connected at the transmission (e.g. wind farms) or the distribution networks (e.g. roof top PV panels) will impose new operational requirements. Fortunately, the advent of grid friendly Flexible loads and Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) including variable speed drive powered CHP microgenerators, heat pumps, and electric vehicles, provide opportunities to optimize power systems and improve operational and investment efficiencies. Indeed, DERs may have a profound impact on the resilience of network infrastructures. This paper proposes distributed decision making driven by spatiotemporal marginal-cost-based prices (DLMPs) discovered in market clearing processes enabled by the massive use of communication and computation technology. In particular, it develops a linear programming market clearing framework that models distribution network characteristics, load and DER preferences and capabilities, and AC power flow relationships. Real and reactive power as well as secondary reserve DLMPs are derived. Network as well as participant charges/revenues are evaluated. A case study of an urban This research is supported by the Qatar National Research Fund under Grant Agreement no 6-1035-5–126. Preprint submitted to Applied Energy August 25, 2015 distribution network in Europe is carried out and provides numerical results that illustrate the proposed electricity DLMP framework.

Particle Swarm Optimization with Smart Inertia Factor for Combined Heat and Power Economic Dispatch

In this paper particle swarm optimization with smart inertia factor (PSO-SIF) algorithm is proposed to solve combined heat and power economic dispatch (CHPED) problem. The CHPED problem is one of the most important problems in power systems and is a challenging non-convex and non-linear optimization problem. The aim of solving CHPED problem is to determine optimal heat and power of generating u...

Toward a Smart Distribution System Expansion Planning by Considering Demand Response Resources

This paper presents a novel concept of "smart distribution system expansion planning (SDEP)" which expands the concept of demand response programs to be dealt with the long term horizon time. The proposed framework, integrates demand response resources (DRRs) as virtual distributed generation (VDG) resources into the distribution expansion planning. The main aim of this paper is to develop and ...

ETEM-SG: Optimizing Regional Smart Energy System with Power Distribution Constraints and Options

This paper gives a detailed description of the ETEM-SG model, which provides a simulation of the long term development of a multi-energy regional energy system in a smart city environment. The originality of the modeling comes from a representation of the power distribution constraints associated with intermittent and volatile renewable energy sources connected at the transmission network like,...

Optimal Reconfiguration in Smart Distribution Network in the Presence of DG Resources under Uncertainties

Due to the growth and expansion of cities and the unchanged distribution network, an important issue for electricity distribution companies is customer satisfaction with the quality of received power. It is clear that with the expansion of load centers, the amount of line power flow increases, that creates problems such as voltage drop and increased losses. Distribution network reconfiguration ...
